The spiritual world today is missing masculinity.

Traditionally, men were the spiritual anchors of their communities: shamans, sages, monks, prophets, priests. The rishis in India, the desert fathers in early Christianity, the Stoic philosophers, and indigenous medicine men. These were men who withdrew from the world not because they were weak, but because they were devoted to something higher, and from that space they brought wisdom back to the tribe. Masculinity was deeply tied to asceticism, presence, and spiritual depth.

Today, men are cut off from this energy. Distracted by dopamine, casual sex, pleasures, alcohol, drugs, video games. Endlessly chasing money and validation. This masculine spirit has been totally hijacked.

(Even the men in the spritual world tend to be extremely feminine)

Women, who naturally tend to be more intuitive and introspective are more comfortable in today’s spirituality which is focused on healing and inner work. But it’s often missing the spine of stillness and discipline we need today.

Most people in the spiritual world today are floating around from one spiritual event or psychedelic to the next – ayahuasca one night, ecstatic dance and cacao ceremony on tuesday, reiki wednesday – without any long term commitment.

I’m not saying women shouldn’t be spiritual, but that we need a balance of the feminine intuition and healing with the masculine discipline.
